Ryker ambush

Ryker loves babies and other toddlers. So much that he has a tendency to overwhelm/attack with hugs and kisses. It is really very sweet, but intimidates other children. (understandable really) He is so affectionate and loving. But after being ambushed 20 or so times a kid starts to get annoyed and begins screaming and yelling like Ryker is biting them. (which thank goodness he doesn't do that anymore!) I hope he always loves to hug and kiss!

Imaginary Friend Dodie

Gracie has an imaginary friend now and her name is Dodie. She talks to her constantly, but I think it's good because she talks to Dodie like I talk to her. (telling her what's wrong and right) Oh yeah, and Dodie is a fat ass. haha! I asked Gracie if Dodie liked to play at the park and she said, "No she just sits there puz she is a mommy. And she has a big butt, a really giant butt." I asked, "Like mommy's butt?" "Yes," she replied. again, haha!

The 3 of us travel to NE

We traveled to NE this weekend for a bridal shower for Lexie. The trip started well with both kids asleep only 10 minutes into the drive. We were very prepared with snacks and DVDs. A little over an hour into the trip, Gracie woke up. She looked up at me and said, "I fink I went potty." If you know Gracie, then you know situations like this can quickly escalate with her. We stopped at the side of an exit to change clothes and switch car seats. (thank goodness for an extra!) Gracie told me, "I fink I need to potty some more." She has perfected going potty outside with a wide leg stance and is very proficient at being held to go potty. We decided to go with this option since then we wouldn't even need to get out of the vehicle. As I held her by the arms out the door, she went a lot more. (what did that girl drink?!?) As I pulled her back in she said, "Mommy, it's cold outside. I can't handle it!" After such a huge potty Gracie was parched. She took a big drink of water and said, "I took a big dwink down my bweath."

This trip was also made memorable by the fact that I was able to pass a semi-truck (twice) because of our stop for Gracie's potty break and another stop to change Ryker's shirt (he was very upset about spilling juice on it). The truck driver honked and waved every time we passed him. The sign on the side window said "Show me your hooters please." I considered it, I mean the sign said please and what a great example I would be setting for my kids, right? Maybe not.

We made it to Paxton at 7 pm and the kids were so excited to see cousin Griffin, Aunt Wexie, Pops, Mimi, Aunt Tawa, and Uncle Mitch. Mitch even stayed up a little late just to see them. They showered him with hugs, kisses, and love yous. And he was lucky enough to receive more a few hours later when they woke him up. Oops. They love little Griffin so much! Gracie says she loves him to the moon and stars and he's so tute and he likes to smile and eat. Ryker has to be pulled away from Griffin because we're afraid he might smother him and infest him with lots of little boy germs.

It's so fun to be back and see so many family members. The kids are pretty funny and we have a great time laughing at their antics. Dad calls them his two little hurricanes. Hopefully, our trip back to Coleton goes smooothly . . .

Fight for Mommy!

Again I tried to lock Gracie and Ryker out of my room and again I failed. (I needed to organize clothes and they were definitely not helping.) I was dying laughing because of all the things Gracie said to try to get me to open the door. "I need a hug, Mommy." "I weally need a hug!" "Fight for Mommy, Wyker!" "We can do it. Twy as hard as you can!" And, alas, the door opens. Somehow, some way Gracie opened the door with a chopstick. Coleton still doesn't believe me on this one, but that's what she had in her hand.

Freakin'

I knew I was going to need to start censoring my vocabulary. Gracie is too clever and way too observant. She is imitating the use of the word freakin'. Not my proudest moment. She's also said, "Whoa, Jesus!" Thanks, Daddy. She can't understand that one because we say Jesus in her song "Jesus Loves Me." Here I am, trying to decipher right and wrong words with a 3-year-old. It's really fun. And she's now my word police.

Weck it?

Last night gracie was pushing me to my limits . . . imagine that. I told her she better, "Check it." (Of course this is a well-loved phrase from my single days living with one of my fave peeps, Diane.) And just as innocent as can be gracie looks up at me and says, "Why? Puz I weck (wreck) it?" After I died laughing I told her that she was very close to wrecking it. And then she continued on with her orneriness.

g-isms (term coined by Lex and Chad)

Okay, here's a few of Gracie's funniest lately before I forget them. While laying in bed between Coleton and I (a spot Gracie is VERY certain is HERS) she said, "Mommy, best fwends forever." I could have melted right there. Except that she followed up with a big hug and kiss and a "you stink." (I probably didn't have the best breath thanks to the earlier eaten cheesy doritos.)

Her and Ryker had a little dispute over raisins. Ryker hit Gracie and I heard Gracie screaming and holding up a hand. She stopped as I walked in. Ryker had to apologize and I asked her if she hit him. "No." Short pause. "But I was finkin' about it."
